Daily Journal August 12, 1998, By William Thomas Thompson. At 6.30a.m. Janette and I boarded Northwest flight to Detroit and Las Vegas. Marc and Boo Boo drove us to the airport in the dark. As we ascend at day break to the North over the Blue Ridge mountain chain, I am charmed at the sight; I want to paint the mountains with the end time message of Bible prophecy being fulfilled now. It is great to have eyes to see the sun rise and the glory of God revealed in the heavens from a window on this McDonnell Douglas DC 9, 90 minute ride to descend and land over Lake Erie Canada in the Northwest Air Lines HUD for a change to a Boeing 757 four hour flight over the beautiful American heartland and the Grand Canyon following the Colorado River for 500 miles to Lake Mead made possible by the great Hoover Dam. We passed over Vail Colorado and saw the ski cliffs looking like weeping white table willows all over the place and reaching up so high. As we approached Vegas low over the lake, I could see the colored mountain with beautiful colors. This is the art of God that I admire and it is hard to describe. I can only praise Him and think of how great He is. The colors were light gray light pink and various shades of sand curved in a way that you think God took special care to design it pretty. We touched down at 11a.m. at the new terminal building casino and with a glass air ride elevator descending down to the grand domed lobby of this $100 million plus project to take a train to the old terminal and the street where a limousine was waiting $3.75 to take us to any hotel on the stripe. A lady's first day driving and 108 degrees, we were very hot in this car as we stopped to let off a passenger at the Tropicana Hotel, I asked for another car. The lady passenger with us was very large and kept screaming for air. We thought she might faint and we thought we might also faint. As we waited inside the Hotel, they sent out a brand new Lincoln limo but after we loaded all inside discovered it was also very hot. A third limo was sent out; it was believe it or not a Chrysler and so very cool in driving us out Las Vegas Blvd to the Stardust Hotel. As the day went on it got hotter to 115 degrees and you could not breathe the outside air even at 9 p.m. when Jim Mann picked us up for dinner, West Coast time. I wanted to go in swimming but it was too hot so I lay down and went to sleep for all the afternoon til 6 p.m. because I failed to fall sound to sleep the night before. I wanted to go the Museum but needed the rest more. Our mission this trip is to take a video of my art show and see it once again while it is up. I now have 128 pages of my daily journal in very limited copy print to give my friends that may understand. There are slot machines everywhere here to take your money down to your last dime and even nickel or bet a million. Gambling is wrong and is a sickness of addiction the same as smoking or as is drinking. Everybody I see here gambling are also smoking and many with a beer in hand. There is no future for addicted people other than deliverance by God through Jesus Christ the Lord, Deliverance is real and is the only way to regain ones life from the vices of Satan. There is no future in gambling. So many local residences of Vegas are hopelessly lost to this awful act. May God deliver us.
